rd1-steroidsAlfred Scarpa, a local of Sayreville, has been sentenced with 33 months of imprisonment by Judge William Walls of the US District Court last January 22. Scarpa manned a home based steroid factory in his house at Rhode Street.

Last September 20, 2007, federal agents raided Scarpa’s residences as a part of “Operation Raw Deal“, which resulted to several dealers across the country being lawfully charged. Federal agents seized 40,000 doses of  anabolic steroids, 2 pistols, and cash amounting to $56,000. Scarpa was charged of possession of anabolic steroids with the intent to distribute the drugs, and of illegal possession of firearms. He pleaded guilty the same month. The steroids from his home were manufactured in a makeshift laboratory. The details as follows:

From MyCentralJersey.com:

According to a criminal complaint, they also found the hardware for a steroid lab. A centrifuge, liquid testosterone and 1.5 kilograms of raw steroid powders were among the material seized.

Those raw steroid products were converted into ingestible steroids by using oils and chemicals, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Kirsch said.

Credit card records showed Scarpa bought items from companies that sell laboratory supplies such as filtration systems, steroid-conversion kits and other devices used to make steroid pills, Kirsch said.

This isn’t the first crime Scarpa has taken part of. Back in 2000, he was convicted for distributing cocaine in Monmouth County. In 2003, he was also convicted for distributing ketamine in Union County.

Scarpa is expected to voluntarily surrender himself to the authorities by March 23 to face his sentence.
