Lansley Simon, boyfriend of Melbourne celebrity lawyer, Zarah Garde-Wilson, pleads guilty to the criminal charges for spraying Versace handbags in its shop in Crown Casino. It was caused by an argument he had with the staff over a repair of a Versace suit. Simon is also charged with possession of steroid vials in his apartment along with other lawsuits.
Since the incident the Magistrates have received reports that Simon had been in a steady relationship and had been taking care of his and Zarah’s three month old daughter, Samantha. He also had issued an apology to the Versace store and paid $28, 305 in damages.
From Herald Sun (Australia):
The court heard he was a good customer and had been banned from the store after the blow-up, in which he sprayed the tiered display of handbags with paint in front of shocked staff.
His lawyer said Simon has been invited back to the store with Ms Garde-Wilson, who is also a regular customer.
Leighton Gwynn said his client had acted immaturely and inappropriately and was sorry.
Simon was also arrested during a major drug investigation in 2007 and delivered methylamphetamines to a buyer in August that year.
When police searched his house they found vials of steroids in his bedroom and fridge.
They also uncovered 12 rounds of ammunition and illegal weapons including two Samurai swords, a flick knife and knuckle dusters.
Magistrate Duncan Reynolds sanction Simon with 175 hours of community work in the next year.
His girlfriend, Garde-Wilson, is the celebrated Australian solicitor whose former boyfriend was Lewis Caine, also a convicted criminal who was one of the victims in the gangland in 2004. She had asked the Supreme Court for Caine’s frozen sperm so she could have a child with him even after his death. Her appeal, however was rejected.
