A clinical trial was conducted by the Memphis-based company, GTx. According to their study, a compound they were developing, which was for muscle wasting and bone loss, was found to help increase lean muscle mass in the elderly.
In the study, Evans and other members of the GTx research team analyzed a solution, which revealed the presence of SARMs S4. Researchers found that each 150 mg / mL of SARMs S4 contained a total of 4.5 gm of SARMs.
The research was published in the recent issue of Drug Testing and Analysis journal.
Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) are said to have steroids effects but proves to be safer when used. It does not produce many harmful side effects unlike synthetic steroids.
SARMS works just like testosterone. However, SARMs is more targeted when it comes to its actions. They only bind to steroid receptors specific to a particular tissue such as the muscles.
According to Evans, SARMs is not steroids. However, they are able to exhibit the same anabolic effects produced by steroids.
Medical researchers, however, warn consumers that there are numerous fake SARMs being sold in the market nowadays.
From Next Big Future:
MIT Technology review reports that a group from the German Sport University Cologne in Germany detected the real SARM (selective androgen receptor modulators) in a product called Andarine, available online for $100 and labeled as green tea extracts and face moisturizer.
