operation_raw_deal-steroidsAs a result of Operation Raw Deal, a steroids busting investigation in the international level, a married couple had been arrested and charged with illegal operations. Kenneth Hebert and Leticia Zamora of Pearland, Texas were found to be manufacturing their own steroid tablets from home. They sold these to over a hundred costumers through online marketing.

From Khou.com:

“It’s not just a drug that can be taken lightly,” explained DEA Special Agent Violet Szeleczky. “It’s something that we still consider extremely dangerous to the public and we’re going to investigate it to its fullest, just as if it were heroin, cocaine or marijuana.”

Hebert could get up to five years behind bars and a $250,000 fine. His wife faces up to 20 years imprisonment and a $500,000 fine.

Operation Raw Deal is an undercover investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The operation aims to identify and arrest individuals who are illegally importing and distributing anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs (human growth hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin, etc.). There are several countries involved in Operation Raw Deal include 26 states in the United States, China and Australia. Most suppliers of raw materials have been identified to have come from China. Operation Raw Deal also included various sport celebrities although their names have been kept from the public.

At present, over 140 individuals have been arrested within the United States alone and more than 50 illegal laboratories have been closed down in several states. More will be added to these numbers as investigations continue.
