The most popular steroids scandals in sports

For many years now, several infamous drug scandals have unceasingly appeared in news and TVs. One of them was that of Andre Agassi. This former tennis ace confessed in his autobiography to have used steroids while still playing in professional tennis.

In the world of football, Diego Maradona, Argentina’s most famous football player was well known for his cocaine abuse. However, more than that, in the 1994 World Cup series, he also tested positive for ephedrine. He was suspended from playing in the World Cup and instead had ended up watching the games from the sidelines.

In baseball, Alex Rodriguez, the highest paid player tested positive for steroids in 2003. He was in fact included in the list of 104 players that tested positive in a confidential testing.

Some of the famous players to have been involved in drug scandals were Olympic gold medalist swimmer, Michael Phelps, who was photographed to have been smoking pot at a student party in 2009.

Who could forget the controversial case of Richard Gasquet, former Wimbledon semi-finalist and French tennis star? He failed a drug test after he kissed a girl in a nightclub the night before. He claimed that the girl “contaminated” him, which resulted to his failed doping test.

These stars are perhaps the brightest but they are also the unforgettable when it comes to steroids controversies.
